My Story

I was lucky enough to come across this simple understanding known as the three principals three years ago.  I had no idea that what I had stumbled upon would so dramatically improve my experience of life.  It did almost immediately and I wanted to know more so I embarked on a professional training with the One thought Institute.

Having been plagued with a busy torturous mind and different insecurities I was constantly in search of ways to heal myself so I could ‘get over ‘ the things I felt were wrong with me. . Little did I know that a simple misunderstanding of how the mind works was leaving me stuck in my suffering.  Once I understood where my experience was coming from things began to change. From this new understanding life no longer gets the better of me. It has become easier, more joyful and my long list of insecurities is a thing of the past. I feel passionate about sharing this with others.

The understanding

The three principals were discovered by Sydney Banks in the 1970’s. It is a very simple understanding of how our minds work. It is so simple that when people learn this one of the first things they ask is how come no one told us this before, life could have been so simple. It is an understanding about the inside- out nature of life. By that I mean we think that our experience of life comes from outside influences such as our circumstances, our relationships, our job etc, and we often feel at the mercy of our changeable feelings about those things. This understanding shows where our experience is actually coming from 100% of the time and it is from the inside, we create our experiences by whatever we are thinking about those outside things. This is an experiential understanding. We gain this understanding via an insight.

I now spend much of my time teaching this understanding to people and with such a passion as I have seen what it has done to my life and I want people to have the psychological freedom that I have discovered. Side effects for me have been increased happiness, wonderful opportunities falling in to my life, improved relationships, and day to day well being.

I teach this understanding through a variety of forums. I work for a company called One Thought. I feel extremely fortunate to be part of this exciting and innovative team. It is the team that trained me and they are at the forefront of spreading this understanding. They are committed to training up future practitioners as well as sharing this with businesses and individuals.  I am involved in many of their projects, including sharing this with individuals, businesses and with the community thorough talks at community nights. I am also lucky enough to be part of a team, Beyond Recovery, taking this in to prisons. I am passionate about this work as the rate of re offending is so high and helping people have a better state of mind results in better choices being made. I recently spoke at the first Women’s Wellbeing Conference, a wonderful event sharing this understanding with a group of women from the business and charity sector.
